Any development or empowerment project in rural villages of India will not be successful without taking agriculture and environment into consideration. The more we embrace the both the more our project becomes productive. Agriculture is the source of livelihood for nearly 60 pc Indians, contributes 17.6 pc of the total greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions in India. Our programs in this sector aims at promoting of organic farming, supporting irrigation system, access to existing government schemes, capacity building of farmers, creation of green spaces, making environment friendly institutions, working on the principle of 3R (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle), etc.

Increasing productivity and securing livelihood through environmentally sound practices.
Building capacity of farmers and equipping them with skill, knowledge and competencies to resolve the agricultural issues and improved agricultural practices.
We collaborate with existing govt and non govt institutions to achieve common goals.
“Tree for Life” is a unique tree plantation program by Model Village Trust. We conduct a large-scale tree plantation drive in adopted villages every year during rainy season ensuring active participation of local people including students, women and community representatives. Plantation is carried out in schools, Panchayat Building, community land and land of individuals. The core idea behind the program is to address the issue of climate change and putting genuine efforts towards environmental sustainability. Plant selection is done on the basis of soil and climate condition in the area.
We emphasize on capacity building of farmers and promotion of scientific practices for crop productivity enhancement and development of sustainable agriculture. We link the farmers with existing institutions such as KVKs and Agriculture Universities and organize capacity building programs for them.
We also promote best practices such as soil testing and efficient fertilizer use etc
Water is one of the most critical input for enhancing crop productivity, but there is a wide supply gap for irrigation water in the country. To ensure the improved productivity, MVT supports small and marginal farmers in irrigation facility for their unirrigated agricultural land.
